Farm tours

In case you haven’t heard.. Gwango has even more in store for nature lovers - our very own farm tours! It’s the roll up our sleeves, put on our boots kind of experience.

Now, let me paint you a picture. A 5-acres oasis of forage worthy botanicals, orchards and the grunts and squeals of farm life. But hey, before we get too carried away, let’s rewind a bit. You see, creating Gobelo Farm wasn’t just about planting seeds and hoping for the best. It has been a journey filled with exploration and many twists, turns and rediscoveries. We battled monkeys, baboons, squirrels and all sorts of critters just to keep the dream of an edible learning space alive. But.. that’s a story for another day!

Today, I want to talk to you about the exploratory space that is Gobelo Farm. What we have created is not your average farm tour, my friends. It’s educational. We look beyond the plate at the healing qualities of botanicals, from neem to sweet papaya, we’ve got close to 100 plants to discover. And get this – we’re doing it all organically!

Now, I know what you’re thinking. How on earth do you grow anything in Kalahari sand? Well, that’s a secret we’re more than happy to share with you on our tour. Spoiler alert: it involves a lot, trial, error, research and stubborn determination.. plus a sprinkle of manure.

Most of the greens at our restaurants come straight from Gobelo Farm. It’s been incredibly gratifying to offer our guests a true farm-to-table experience. But..our farm tour isn’t just about plants… You see, over the years, we have been working on many anti-poaching methods, and we have concluded that there is no better way to help our local communities live better lives than by growing the foods (and meats) they need. BUT.. before we could ask others to do so, we had to “walk the talk,” so we started a long while ago with an anti-poaching rabbit project. Today, we have a bit of a menagerie of farm animals waiting for your visit. Sheep, pigs, rabbits, ducks, – we’ve got them all. You’ll learn all about it when you visit.
